Holiday Fun

It started when Zack stole her ball.   Teasing her something awful he was.   She was a labrador x boxer x husky at the dog park in Whitefish, Montana and Zack thought she was the best thing ever!!!   They certainly knew how to play together and here are some of the photos to show it :)

Leaping Lizards - I mean Zacky!!!

My what big teeth you have

That's quite the move - over and under

She was a big galoof of a dog but was so gentle with Zacky and he knew it - he had her pinned on numerous occasions - it was so funny.   I think he liked her :)

A White Christmas

I can't believe Christmas has come and gone and we have been to my sister's in Montana and back already.  The drive through the mountains was beautiful but the roads were a bit dicey.   Luckily we got there and back safely and this was the view from my sister's window.   Can't complain eh.

We took Zack for a walk along the Swan River trail and it is very different walking this time of year rather than the summer.   Looking down on the river with the snow topped rocks was truly amazing.

After lots of ripping of paper Zacky was happy with this one gift we got him.   He shook, squeaked and pulled at it for all of 3 minutes until it was disembowelled as usual - but it is always fun to watch him while it lasted LOL

Surprisingly Zack was on his best behaviour at my sisters, don't know whether he has grown up (I thought he was sick - but he wasn't LOL) because he was so quiet.   He slept on his bed or kept glued to our sides and just was really calm.   I was quite proud of him as my sister is not really a dog person - and Zack is usually an 'in your face" kinda dog.    May be he knew where he was LOL.

The only drawback at my sisters is that they don't have any fenced yard and with all the forest, deer and other Montana critters there was no off leash at all until we took him to the Whitefish Dog Park.  It is the best fenced dog park I have ever seen.   Firstly, it is beautiful and then there is a big dog park and a separate small one.   There are shelters and picnic areas.  They are now building a dog pond for dogs who like to swim as well.  The view is amazing and it started to snow while we were there - very Christmasy.

Zack was having a blast with the dogs.

They even have a very low A Frame which was covered in snow.

Can you see the two tunnels?  They are built of solid metal which go through dirt banks and come out the other side.  How cool is that.

It was a great way to spend an hour or two and I have lots more photos of Zack burning off some energy with some new doggy pals at the park.  Til next time.....

Counting Down to Christmas

On Saturday we are driving through the mountains to my sisters in Montana for Christmas.  It should be beautiful down there this time of year and really Christmasy.  I can't wait til Christmas morning to watch Zacky rip up all the paper and shred his new gift within 30 seconds :)

Zack would like to say

We woof you a Merry Christmas
We woof you a Merry Christmas
We woof you a Merry Christmas
and a Yappy New Year!!!!

Have a great holiday season everyone and we will be back to report on our Christmas trip when we get back.

Rollin', Rollin', Rollin'

Zack had fun rollin', rollin', rollin' on the small packed snow drifts at the park

 bum's up

the ice man cometh

This went on for about 10 minutes non stop - I think he was enjoying rubbing the cool ice on his face - he was hilarious.

Fun at the Park

These were some of the pictures that I took "after" the lady saw me acting completely bonkers in the park :)

Zack had a blast with is little wubba kong although he was not so coordinated sometimes  BOL!!

I have more of Zack's antics at the park and will share them on my next blog.   In about an hour we are off to meet Anita and Deuce, Zack's whippet buddy for a walk on this frosty morning.   Have a great weekend everybody!!!

Why Does it Always Happen

As I was off work yesterday I took Zack to Nicholas Sheran park during the day while nobody was about so he could have a run on some "groomed grass" for a change  and I don't know whether it was the cold, the light snow, the trees, twigs or deer poop but Zack was crazier than usual and was acting like a puppy - he had me in stitches laughing.   I took his wubba kong toy so he could have a back and forth play session and in the midst of it all he had me squealing and hollering and jumping up and down laughing my head off when lo and behold I see out of the corner of my eye a woman standing there looking at me!!!!  I thought the park was deserted but I was soooo wrong --  Why does this always happen?    All I could think of was to hold my camera up and smile at her and pretend I was taking pictures (which I wasn't at the time).   Zack knows I have already gone doolally but I don't want the whole world to know  - ahahahahaha.

Chilly Chilly

Yesterday morning was very chilly, foggy, frosty with a bit of snow and temps of - 13 with windchill of -23 but it didn't stop Zack and I from venturing out for 1/2 hour.    Instead of walking to our favourite field I did drive down there cuz it was so cold.   Once out of the car I made Zack wait and as you can see he wasn't too happy about the hold up and was raring to go LOL

then he was off

I wasn't sure how long we would be out because even though I put Zack's monkey sweater on I forgot to put his boots on but he honestly didn't seem to have a problem running through the snow

Even though it is so cold this time of year for walking it is brilliant all at the same time, no snakes, no bees, no mad flailing of arms and funny dances trying to get away from them,  and hardly any other people and it seems like we have the whole place to ourselves --- I love it

Even though Zack's a terrier he is pretty good at checking back with me to make sure I am coming - he is so cute -- although I am sure if a rabbit popped out he would leave me in the dust behind him forgetting all about me, but on the whole he is a good boy.

The golf course across the river valley looked so good after it had a skiff a snow.   The short grass would be so perfect for walking the dog... for me anyways...  if only

but I think Zack likes the long grass better anyways as he can snuffle and rummage for whatever he can find ---- typically poopsicles -- little bugger

After about 1/2 hour my legs were numb and it was time to get this little monkey butt back to the car.

Making the Most of It

We have been making the most of walking Zack "off the beaten track" around the top of the coulees this last little while as all too soon the snow drifts will be too deep for little border terrier legs to trudge through and it will be back to walking round the roads where people shovel the snow away.

The views are actually spectacular of the river valley when everything is frosty and even Zack stopped to have a good look

The river itself has started to freeze up and you can see the flows of ice moving down the river - soon it will look like solid white ice although underneath in places the water still moves and is quite dangerous - especially for little dogs to be walking on so river walks are off limits in the winter for us.

There are lookout benches along our route and we took advantage of getting a few pictures of Zack - although he wasn't facing the view BOL!!!
